Dr. Suchitra N. Pandit Vice President, FOGSI 2008-2009 Professor and Unit Chief (OBGYN), LTM Medical College & General Hospital, Sion, Mumbai, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist Dr. Suchitra Narayan Pandit, Professor & Unit Chief, LTM Medical College, Sion (Mumbai) is a widely respected UG & PG teacher with over 22 years teaching experience is also an examiner at many universities in India Dr. Pandit has always been a very active academician and clinician with a social cause and this reflects in her holding prestigious positions in many national and international organizations. She is an active member of three committees of FOGSI MTP, Safe Motherhood, Adolescent health and Ethics & Medicolegal committee (1999-2002 ).She was a Core Committee Member of the MVA multicentric project of the MTP committee in collaboration with the Government of India & WHO. She is currently the Chairperson - Young Talent Promotion Committee of FOGSI (2003-2008) and is also the Vice President elect (2008). Dr. Pandit is also a Member of Governing council of ICOG since 2006 and Clinical Secretary of the Mumbai society of OBGYN(MOGS). In addition to the above, Dr. Pandit is the secretary of the Adolescent Empowerment Project (Kishori), an initiative of FOGSI in collaboration with LTMG hospital, Unicef, ICDS, Sneha & Intergold Gems since 2002. She was involved right from Project proposal to its implementation at Urban Health Centre, Dharavi. Kishori aims at overall development of girls in Dharavi with a special emphasis on adolescent reproductive health education, health checkups & vocational guidance. She has worked in the UK for two years and traveled to various centers in USA and Europe to gain further expertise in her field of interest namely 'Management of High risk pregnancy, Adolescent & Menopausal problems, Pelvic floor surgery and endoscopy. She has won several prizes for her presentations & research which includes the prestigious FOGSI CORION award in 1998. Her book on 'Pelvic Organ Prolapse has fetched her the 'FOGSI -Dr. D.K Dutta Prize' for the best FOGSI publication of 2006. Dr. Suchitra Pandit has travelled very widely and has been invited for over 350 guest lectures by many National and International organisations.She has been awarded 'Dr. Indirabai Khare Oration' by the Nagpur society in, 2002; 'Dr Kaulgud Oration' by Hubli society ( 2007) & the 'Silver Jubilee Oration 2007', Visakapatnam society of OBGYN. Her service to the community has been acknowledged by the FOGSI DURU SHAH distinguished community service award and Dr. Ganatra trust award She is passionate about traveling and is multilingual hence she has always realized the importance of communication. This prompted her to design the Communication skills workshops for Effective Doctor Patient Interaction which she has successfully conducted with her Young Talent Promotion Committee members at 38 places in India. She has also conducted the 'YUVA Mela " at Pune for young students which included reproductive health education, communication skills, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation drills.
