Crying of a Newborn Baby
It would be more than a pleasant dream for you to see your baby calm and peaceful, while you manage those daily chores with great perfection. But certainly, it does not happens this way. Amidst all the anxieties hovering in your mind, you rather end up increasing those crying jags in the process, trying to figure out what may be the culprit.

The baby cannot communicate in any other way, so she resorts to crying as the only effective tool since birth. Babies spent about nearly 7% of the day crying.

Try to decipher these reasons, the next time your baby goes through those endless crying spells.
  • Hunger could be one of the reasons for an extremely frantic baby who needs to be fed quite often throughout the day. So you got to keep a tab on the feeding routines for your baby and respond to her needs accordingly. Try feeding every two hours as this will help him/her ingest milk at a comparatively slower rate.
  • Wet or soiled diapers might be adding up to her discomfort, so check for those as often and make sure that they are changed frequently.
  • Burping the baby during and after each feeding would help her expel air which she might have swallowed in during feeding. A gentle pat on their back and abdomen with holding them upright against your shoulder would be of great help.
  • Problems of indigestion could lead to colic pain making the baby cranky and irritable at times. Colic is not termed as a medical condition with any significant underlying causes. It can be commonly seen even in a healthy baby which gradually disappears after 3 months. It might so happen that the new infant formula that has been introduced to her feeding regime is not being taken up well by her digestive system, so she is crying. Also the diet of a breastfeeding mother could alter the flavour of milk, to which now the baby has developed an aversion and has become unusually fussier than before. Pay heed to making modifications in your diet and see if it works out.
  • Sometimes crying for apparently no reason could indicate that she may just be tired due to irregular sleep patterns. The chaos in the house with heightened noise levels might also be bothering her too much, to have her share of peace amidst all. Showing your concern by simply holding her with slightly patting or giving her a gentle massage could soothe and help strengthen the affectionate bond
  • .

However if the baby continually cries even after the above mentioned reasons, it might be so that your baby is suffering from gastroenteritis or Meningitis (infection of the middle year) or a respiratory tract infection. In some cases problems ranging from a severe nappy rash to immense gastric pain can make your baby colicky which is usually observed in the first three months. Curling up their legs to their abdomen, flatulence problems, skin rashes or sudden fever would be indicative of the signs and symptoms. This necessitates immediate help from the healthcare provider.
