Your growing baby
Now your baby can open and close her eyes. You could notice that your baby has a regular sleep and wake cycle. If you feel rhythmic spasms in your uterus, it is likely that your baby is having a case of hiccups. As your baby’s lungs continue to mature, if you were to deliver your baby now, there is a great chance of survival for your baby with some medical help. Your baby is approximately 37 cm long and weighs around 875 g in week 27.
By week 28, your baby would have grown by another 1 cm and reached the 1 kg milestone of weight. The amount of brain tissue begins to increase during this week. The hair over your baby’s head also continues to grow and fingernails begin to appear. As baby fat continues to develop under the skin, your baby start to look little rounder now.
Things to consider
If you feel that your baby’s movement seem less active then usual, do inform your doctor. Fetal hiccups are not uncommon during the last part of pregnancy, so do not panic if you get rhythmic movements in your Uterus. Moreover, experts say that hiccups do not cause the same discomfort in babies as they do in adults. Continue reading and singing to your baby.
