Dr. Purna Chandra Mahapatra is the Associated Professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, S.C.B. Medical College, Cuttack, Orissa. Drawn to academics at a very early stage, Dr. Mahapatra is now a satisfied soul as a teacher. He has been actively involved in teaching undergraduates as well as postgraduates in Obstetrics and Gynecology since 1986 and Postgraduate Examiner in Kolkata, Guwahati & Berhampur universities.
Over the years, Dr. Mahapatra's contribution in academics have take him all across the globe, leading and representing his peers in many associations. He has been a very active member of FOGSI and has been the Vice-President (2004) and Chairperson, Medical Education Committee (2002 - 2007).
His organizational & Leadership abilities have also been there for the world to see. Dr. Mahapatra has been the organizing secretary of the 45th AICOG at Bhubaneswar (2002), Joint Organising Secretary of the 6th Annual Conference of the Association of Gynaecologic Oncologists of India in Cuttack (1997), Joint Organizing Secretary, 6th Annual Conference of NAVSFWI (1990) and has also organized many prestigious CME Programmes across the country. He is an Executive member of ISOPARB and Chief Coordinator of Endoscopic Training Center under "Women's Health Initiative" project
Apart from the above Dr. P. C. Mahapatra has participated in and organized many seminars on women's health. He is an honoured orator and has shared his knowledge as a Guest lecturer all over the country. He has also published research paper & publications in different State & National Journals. As a prolific social activist, Dr. Mahapatra founded the Voluntary Organisation for the destitutes "SAKHA" in Orissa in 1995.
